The Guimaras Player’s Center Sports Academy (PCSA) makes sure that sports in the province of Guimaras is still alive despite the pandemic.
Founded by Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, the academy will treat Guimarasnons to an exciting sports tournament. This time, the first-ever Zoom Dunk competition on May 1, 2021.
Fresh from organizing the first online chess tournament, Gabayoyo said they want sports in Guimaras to continue existing and to give entertainment to the public.
The tournament is open for all Guimarasnons with no age bracket restrictions, with registration free of charge. In order to compete, players should make sure they have stable internet connection if they are to compete at home. They also need to secure stable mobile data if they decide to use an outdoor court with permission from their respective barangays.
It will be a three-round scheme and players will be eliminated along the way until the final stage with each dunk having a 1:30 time limit. A special panel of judges from other provinces in Panay will score the playing match.
“This is to promote physical fitness and to provide avenue to our players for competition as well as to promote sports and to keep people active amidst pandemic,” Gabayoyo said.
