Student-athletes from West Visayas State University (WVSU ) Main Campus regained this year’s University Hinampang after ruling various game categories in Iloilo City. 

The main campus proved supreme as they outlasted Lambunao and Janiuay campuses, which ranked second and third placers, respectively. 

The main campus in La Paz district, Iloilo City ruled the taekwondo competition at City Mall Parola, Iloilo after harvesting 12 gold and six silver medals. 

WVSU-Lambunao placed second with eight gold, five silver, and one bronze medals while WVSU-Janiuay landed in third place with one gold medal, 4four silver, and eight bronze medals.

The main campus was led by Plas Elijan Avelino who got the gold medal in the Kyorugi events, while Frech Van Sola, also from the main campus, won another gold in the flyweight division.

In bantamweight division, Efren Leonero from the main campus got a gold medal while in the featherweight, Philip Ramirez of Lambunao campus got the gold.

Nicko Losbañez of Lambunao conquered the lightweight division. His schoolmate Kenneth Gascon also won a gold medal in the welterweight division. Karl De La Cruz of the main campus ruled the Heavyweight division.

In the women’s category, Jonalyn Jalando-on from the main campus got gold, Mylene Memoria of Lambunao notched the top honors in flyweight, Renalyn Galladora of Lambunao topped the bantamweight division, and Jesa Laprado ruled the featherweight. In the lightweight division, Cleo Angelie Ruel of the main campus won the gold medal, Minle Mar Ayalin from Janiuay captured gold in the welterweight, Jevy Ann Cachuela from Lambunao ruled the middleweight, and Angela Malones nabbed gold in the heavyweight division.

The WVSU Main Campus also dominated the Arnis tournament. It collected a total of five gold, four silver, and three bronze medals, while the girls’ division finished eight gold medal tally, one silver, and two bronze medals. 

The Janiuay campus ranked second place for both the boys and girls, with a total of nine medals for the boys and nine for the girls.IMT
