The number of patients who recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas has risen to 14.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported on Friday, April 24, three new recoveries.

The recovered patients include a 44-year-old male from Jaro district in Iloilo City, a 66-year-old female from Kalibo in Aklan, and a 40-year-old male from Kalibo in Aklan.

Aklan registered the highest number of COVID-19 survivors in the region with four, followed by Iloilo province, three; Capiz, Bacolod City and Iloilo City, three each; and Negros Occidental, one.

The DOH-6 also logged three new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases in Western Visayas to 58.

Two of the new infected patients are from Negros Occidental. They are among the stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated from Cebu.

WV56 is a 38-year-old male from Silay City while WV57 is a 50-year-old male from Candoni town.

The two are asymptomatic and are currently under facility quarantine. 

The 58th patient is a 33-year-old female from Lambunao in Iloilo province. She is asymptomatic and is currently under home quarantine.

There are now a total of 58 confirmed cases of the viral disease in the region, including eight deaths.

Guimaras is the only province in Western Visayas that has no case of COVID-19.IMT
