Western Visayas has 29 hospitals that are capable to handle patients who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to the Department of Health (DOH-6).
These hospitals, which belong to the Level 2 and Level 3 categories, “are equipped with isolation rooms at the Emergency and In-patient Departments and have the capacity to manage infectious diseases,” the DOH-6 said.
“Thus, COVID-19 patients seeking consultation/treatment can be managed in these hospitals,” the health department stressed.
The DOH-6 reiterated its directive that all licensed Level 2 and Level 3 public and private hospitals should attend to all COVID-19 patients as well those suspected of having the viral disease.
“Appropriate infection prevention and control measures should be strictly implemented to ensure the safety and protection of healthcare workers attending these patients,” it said.
The DOH-6 also assured the public that it is in close coordination with these hospitals in the detection, treatment, and management of COVID-19 cases.
The region currently has 40 positive cases of COVID-19, including 7 deaths and 7 recoveries. IMT
