Ilonggo booters from Barotac Nuevo Central Elementary School is one tough team as they swept Region 8, 8-0 at the Don Bosco Technological College during the Pre-Palarong Pambansa Qualifying Meet in Cebu.

Representing Western Visayas, the elementary boys football team was dominant all throughout the competition. Nathan Howard Caligdong steered the Ilonggos with a hat trick, while Drystan Alexandrae Delgado-Torres contributed two conversions.

Jhon Army Condino, John Lorenz Segocio and Alfin Bayotas contributed one goal each as they finished on top with seven points on two wins and a draw.

Other members of the WV elementary boys football team were Kurt Arnel Deoduco, Finley Nate Bedia, Vinz Kyru Bragancia, Gian Michael Porras, Gem Andrei Dequit, Fritz Azhryl Chavez, Jasper Jan Santos, Carl Justin Gabayno, James Michael Consular, Neil John Biclar, Ezekiel Joan Surmieda, Bryan Ejar, Nhelro Valderama and Raiver Paul Fernandez.

Mentored by Coach Ariel Bedic, the Western Visayas squad along with second placer Central Visayas successfully booked their tickets to the 2023 Palarong Pambansa competition slated from July 29 to August 5 in Marikina City.

Meanwhile, the Western Visayas secondary boys football team, represented by Barotac Nuevo Comprehensive Elementary School – Iloilo wrapped up the tournament following a 2-2 draw against Region 9 in their final match on Saturday.

Despite finishing runner up in the three-day cluster 3 qualifying meet, the Iloilo-based booters will still advance to Palarong Pambansa along with champion Region 7-Central Visayas.IMT Sports
