Two labor groups are pushing to increase the daily pay of minimum wage earners in Western Visayas.

The United Labor-Western Visayas and the Iloilo Pepsi Cola Workers Independent Union filed petitions to raise the daily minimum wage in the private sector.

Their petitions, which were filed before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-6), seek an increase of P100.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-6) regional director Atty. Sixto Rodriguez Jr., who also sits as chairman of RTWPB-6, said the petitions were submitted to them last March 2.

RTWPB-6 will hold the first hearing on the proposed minimum wage adjustment on May 16.

Currently, the daily minimum wage is P420 for those working in establishments with 10 workers or less, P450 for those working in establishments with more than 10 workers, and P410 for agricultural workers.IMT
