The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas is now more than 18,000.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 90 new infections on Thursday, Nov. 12, jacking up the region’s total case count to 18,084.
Twenty-nine of the new cases came from Negros Occidental, 21 from Iloilo province, 18 from Bacolod City, 9 from Iloilo City, and 5 from Capiz.
The DOH-6 also logged 194 new recoveries and 8 new deaths, bringing the total recovery count and death toll to 14,855 and 470, respectively.
At present, there are 2,759 active cases in the region. Negros Occidental accounted for 1,559 of the figure, followed by Iloilo province (500), Bacolod City (350), Iloilo City (227), Capiz (66), Aklan and Guimaras (25 each), and Antique (7).
