An additional five cases of the highly contagious Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1 were recorded in Western Visayas.
Three of them were returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) from the U.S.A. and two were local cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The five, who are all fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have already been tagged as recovered. Most of them only had mild symptoms.
The total number of Omicron subvariant cases in the region now stands at eight, of which half were ROFs and the other half were local cases.
The first three cases in the region involved residents of Pavia, Zarraga and Iloilo City.
Overall, the Omicron subvariant case count in the country currently stands at 22. Broken down, 12 were detected in Puerto Princesa City, 8 in Western Visayas, and two from the National Capital Region.IMT
