The number of active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas has increased to more than 14,000.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) on Sunday, Sept. 12, reported 917 new infections, jacking up the region’s total case count to 14,587.
The province of Iloilo accounted for the highest number of new cases at 362; followed by Iloilo City with 136; Negros Occidental, 120; Bacolod City, 80; Capiz, 69; Guimaras, 52; and Antique, 46.
Of the total active cases, 5,734 are from Iloilo province; 2,327 from Iloilo City; 2,034 from Negros Occidental; 1,287 from Bacolod City; 976 from Capiz; 846 from Antique; 777 from Guimaras; and 606 from Aklan.
The DOH-6 also recorded 684 new recoveries and zero deaths.
Since the pandemic started last year, the region registered a total of 114,429 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The figure includes 97,134 recoveries and 2,683 deaths.IMT
