Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has issued an executive order (EO) requiring all persons in the province of Iloilo to wear face shields at all times outside of their residences.

The wearing of face shields on top of face masks is contained in EO 183-I, which extended the province’s modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status until January 31, 2021.

The EO, issued by Defensor on Wednesday, Dec. 30, is set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. of January 1, 2021.

Face shields should be fully covering the face, from forehead to chin.

This additional safety measure aims to reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province, based on a bulletin issued by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Wednesday, stood at 3,047, including 2,665 recoveries and 95 deaths.IMT
