Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has urged Ilonggos to remain vigilant against the deadly disease caused by the new coronavirus.
The public should not be complacent amid relaxed quarantine procedures, Treñas said.
“Indi ta gid pagkalimtan nga ara gihapon ang virus and it will stay until there will be a vaccine,” he stressed.
On Friday, May 15, the mayor issued an executive order (EO) inplementing the general community quarantine (GCQ) in the city from May 16 to 31.
The EO contains “guidelines and protocols” that are intended to “help stop the spread of the virus.”
The city currently has 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including nine recoveries and one death.
Under the EO, several businesses and passengers vehicles are allowed to resume operations provided that safety protocols are followed.
Among the business establishments that are permitted to reopen are malls, restaurants, bookstores, barbershops, beauty salons, repair shops, and dental clinics.
The mayor also relaxed the city’s travel and border restrictions.
“Wala na kita quarantine passes and checkpoints kay GCQ na. Bukas man kita para sa mga naghalin sa GCQ areas,” Treñas said.
Treñas also lifted the ban on the sale of liquor.
“Ang sa liquor ban i-lift naton pero amat-amat lang. There will be limitations sa hard drinks,” the mayor said.IMT
