The coronavirus-positive patient from the town of Anilao in Iloilo province succumbed to acute myocardial infarction or heart attack, according to the Department of Health (DOH-6).
Tagged as WV 115, the 39-year-old patient died while being treated at the Western Visayas Sanitarium in Sta. Barbara last week.
Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te, DOH-6 spokesperson, said the patient, who manifested mild symptoms of COVID-19, had underlying pneumonia.
“Even mild symptoms lang sya kon heart attack na, indi ta na na maquestion,” she told reporters during a virtual press conference on Tuesday, June 9.
The patient was among the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who arrived in Iloilo from Manila on May 27.
From the Iloilo International Airport, the patient was brought to a qurantine facility in Anilao but was later transferred to the hospital.
The deceased patient had a history of travel to Spain.IMT
