Many IMT NEWS followers were in favor of scrapping the mandatory face shield rule.
In an online poll, IMT NEWS asked netizens whether or not they were in favor of the policy requiring people to wear face shields when leaving their homes.
For Nen Lamela, face shields are “useless.”
“La naman kwenta yan eh, sa totoo lang,” she uttered as she answered yes to the survey.
Martina Jezzabell Kulits, for her part, said wearing a face shield with eyeglasses is uncomfortable.
“Yes jussss meyuuuuu ka budlay magbitbit nga may atempara kana may face shield ka pa,” she quipped.
Chrysler Paratut reasoned out that it is only the Philippines that requires the use of face shields to its constituents.
“Yup, Pinas lang gagamit sang face shields samtang ang kalibutan waay man garequire, tapos taas gyapon cases sa Pinas,” she said.
On Monday night, June 21, President Rodrigo Duterte said the public must continue to wear face shields both in outdoors and indoor places.
“Many thought that we were ready to do away with the face mask. But with the kind of aggressive infection that poses a very grave danger to, it’s a small inconvenience, actually…but that is only a small price to pay, than rather gamble with doing away with it and courting disaster,” he said.
According to Duterte, the mandatory use of face shields was recommended by health experts.
“As of now the face mask is on. Wala tayong magawa [We can’t do anything]…uh, the face shield… ‘Yun na lang ang pangkontra ko [That is what I can do now],” he said.IMT
