It will be a thrilling February for the Ilonggo fans as powerhouse basketball teams invade Iloilo for a two-day goodwill matches. 

The University of of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons will face a tough challenge against CESAFI champion Southwestern University-Phinma Cobras.

The much-anticipated match will tip off on Feb. 22 and 23 wherein the Cobras will be led by MVP Shaquille Imperial and Senegalese import Lamine Thiam.

According to Coach Mike Reyes, younger brother of former Gilas Pilipinas head coach Vincent “Chot” Reyes, they are in the process of rebuilding their lineup, especially that imports came out late already. 

Meanwhile, Ilonggo basketball sportsman Rodolfo Villaruz said Ilonggos will expect a tough game as both teams are good inside the court.

To recall, the Fighting Maroons were coming off a third place finish in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball after bowing twice to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers in the step-ladder semifinals.IMT
