Ilonggos will wait one more month before witnessing the much-anticipated UAAP Goodwill Games.
This, after the match was moved to March due to unavailability of some key players.
The games between the University of the Philippines (UP) and Southwestern University (SWU) was originally scheduled in Iloilo City next month.
Organizer Rodolfo Go Villaruz said the decision because of the unavailability of UP’s Kobe Paras, along with brothers Juan and Javi Gomez De Liaño.
Villaruz, who is the key to various goodwill games in Iloilo City, said the three are included in the pool for the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. The first qualifying round begins on February 20.
The FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers fall on February 20, against Thailand, and February 23, against Indonesia, which are almost the same dates with the planned Iloilo trip.
Meanwhile, he also announced that another goodwill match will be held in Passi City as part of the Pintados de Passi Festival.
The UP team will be led by Ricci Rivero, Kobe Paras, Bright Akhuetie, Juan Gomez de Liano, Javi Gomez de Liano, Will Gozum, and David Murrell. They also played two exhibition matches in Iloilo City against the Iloilo PRISAA selection team at the University of San Agustin Gym and City of Passi Arena last year.IMT
