Iloilo Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” Tupas hailed the reelection of San Enrique Mayor Rosario Mediatrix “Trixie” P. Fernandez as president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP-Iloilo Chapter).
“Mayor Trixie has proven her worth as a good, fair, and dependable leader of her peers for the past few years,” said Tupas.
“It (her reelection) signifies unity of effort and direction of local chief executives (LCEs) in the province and good working relationships and partnerships not only with the leadership of the provincial government but of the congressional district as well,” he added.
Fernandez ran unopposed in the LMP elections held at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) in Iloilo City on Thursday, Aug. 25. Present during her inauguration were Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., Vice Governor Christine Garin, and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Atty. Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr.
The reelected president thanked her fellow mayors for trusting and supporting her and vowed to implement programs and activities that will further improve local governance in the province.
Fernandez said she will push for the launch of a national agency roadshow, which aims to establish “meaningful connections” between government departments and local government units (LGUs).
“It’s a chance for national agencies to visit [our municipalities] kag para mabal an naton ang mga ginaroll-out nila nga mga programa sa ila department, ” she said.
Fernandez is also planning to instigate relevant forums more often among the mayors to have an in-depth discussion of the concerns of each district.
