Tubungan town in the first district of Iloilo province was named as the “Most Business-Friendly” local government unit, under the 3rd to 6th class municipality category, by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
Roquito Tacsagon, Tubungan municipal mayor, has personally received the national award at Manila Fiesta Pavilion Hotel last week.
Tacsagon expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the town in organizing its business sector.
“We qualified for the award because of our initiative to organize our business sector and to intensify our program for business permitting,” he said.
The mayor shared the town has granted permits to more than 500 big and small businesses for 2019. “Last year, we only had around 300 businesses that were given permits,” he said.
The award was also dedicated to the town’s business sector which continues its active cooperation with the local government, he added.
In 2018, Tubungan, along with Mina town, were also given the same recognition. “This is a repeat of our success last year,” he said.
Tacsagon said the towns of Mina and Concepcion were also among the finalists this year “but Tubungan was qualified this 2019 in the whole province of Iloilo”.
The town also eyes to join other competitions like the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) search for Excellence in Local Governance (Excel) Award.PNA
