Treñas to PLDT, Smart: Speed up restoration of Internet services in Iloilo City

Mayor Jerry Treñas has called on telco network PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) to speed up the restoration of their Internet services in Iloilo City.

PLDT and Smart users in the city and other parts of the Western Visayas region experienced slow Internet browsing on Tuesday, August 1.

“It has affected so many who rely on the Internet for fast communication, payment and other needs,” Treñas said in a statement.

In an advisory, PLDT said the disruption in their landline and Internet services was due to “a fiber optic cable break during a drainage excavation.”

“We will provide further details as they come. Thank you for your understanding,” the Pangilinan-led telco player added.IMT
