Mayor Jerry Treñas said he has yet to decide whether or not it will extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed on Iloilo City.

The ECQ or lockdown, which took effect on March 21, is set to end on April 14. It aims to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Treñas said the city government’s COVID-19 Task Force is currently soliciting recommendations from health experts.

“There are some recommendations from doctors of 2-week extension because there are no signs of downtrend,” he said.

“Others recommended to consult epidemiologists/physicians, regarding this,” he added.

Meanwhile, Treñas appealed to residents to observe the measures implemented in the city.

“It has been observed that we are slowly letting our guard down. We cannot afford to be lax at this time,” he stressed

“Stay at home if possible, and if you really need to go out, practice social distancing and wear a mask always,” the mayor added.

The city has recorded four confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of April 7.IMT
