Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas issued a Memorandum Order to all concerned punong barangays and barangay officials in the metropolis to comply with road clearing and cleanup in their areas of responsibility.
He reiterated the compliance with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2019-121. It was issued and signed by DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año, pursuant to President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s directive during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last month.
“You are hereby directed to undertake all necessary measures and actions to implement the clearing of public roads of all illegal structures and constructions with 60 days and maintain cleanliness of all recovered public roads in your respective jurisdictions,” Treñas stated.
“Please be reminded that as per DILG MC No. 2019-121, non-compliance would result to the filing of appropriate administrative cases shall be filed pursuant to Section 60 (c) of the Local Government Code of 1991 and other existing laws and policies. For strict compliance,” he added.
The mayor also earlier asked residents for voluntary removal of illegal structures in the streets amid continuing clearing operations.Iloilo City PIO
