Mayor Jerry P. Treñas on Thursday, March 5, said that punong barangays who will still fail to comply with the road clearing order will be shown no mercy.
“I told them while I do not want to impose administrative sanctions against them, if there will be recommendation from the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Goverment ) then I don’t have a choice but to do so,” Treñas said.
On Wednesday, March 4, summoned the 46 village chiefs in the city who failed the first evaluation conducted by the DILG.
Treñas said the village chiefs promised to exert their best efforts to pass the second evaluation.
“I told them ubrahon nila tanan ag maubra nila para maplastar na nila tanan ang ila barangay.”
The DILG has so far evaluated 139 out of 180 barangays in the city.
Treñas believes that the time given to the barangays is more than sufficient enough to comply.
According to the mayor, most of the barangays that flunked the evaluation have no approved ordinances in relation to the road clearing operation.
“Ang ginhatag sakon na papel was only pass and fail so it does not really show kon diin sila na aspect nag-fail but I was told 25 percent ang portion para sa approved ordinance of the barangays on illegal parking and iban pa, kalabanan sa ila wala approved ordinance,” Treñas said.
The mayor also met with Jeck Conlu, the head of the city government’s Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), to discuss some concerns and issues relative to the road clearing operation.IMT
