There will be no extension of the Jan. 20 deadline for the filing of applications for the renewal of business permits.
This was emphasized by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas after he issued an executive order directing the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) City Bureau of Fire Protection (CBFP), City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO), and the City Treasure’s Office (CTO) to conduct a joint inspection of all business establishments operating in the metropolis starting Jan. 21, a day after the deadline.
“Effective Jan. 21 malibot na sila sa tanan nga mga business establishments para kon waay sang mga permits, pasira,” said Treñas.
The mayor was disappointed when he learned that BPLO was clueless about Malabanan Siphoning Services’ operation in the city without business permit.
“So very disappointing, it should not happen again,” he said.
Meanwhile, as part of its continuous effort to further streamline its Business Permits and Licensing System to make it easy for its clients to secure and renew their business permits in the city, Treñas issued a memorandum to all punong barangays regarding the issuance of community tax certificate (CTC) or Cedula.
In the memo, the city mayor informed and instructed the village chiefs that, in the issuance of the barangay clearance for business, CTC will no longer be a requirement in the barangay.
He said it will be computed and paid together with the business tax and other fees at the CTO as the city implements one-time assessment and one-time payment at the business one-stop shop at the CTO.
“Diri lng makuha sa city hall para mapadasig ang pagkuha sang business permits,” said Treñas.
Such, he added, is also in compliance with the new law or the Ease of Doing Business.
Treñas noted that such effort of the city government in streamlining Business Permits and Licensing System earned the city an award as the Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit outside Metro Manila.
Treñas also orded all punong barangays to ensure that “barangay clearance is for business purposes and not good moral or certification of residence and guarantee the availability of signatories during the entire renewal period, from Jan 2 to 20, 2020.” IMT
