Mayor Jerry Treñas is considering scrapping the S-PaSS (swift, safe, smart passage) requirement for Iloilo City-bound travelers.
“We will also try to do away with the requirement on S-PaSS. It is time to slowly go to the new normal,” Treñas said in a statement.
“The economy needs to be revived as many businesses have closed and many jobs have been lost. We cannot forever be in this state,” he added.
The city is currently under Alert Level 3. Based on the Feb. 26 case bulletin issued by the Department of Health, it has 536 active COVID-19 cases.
Early this month, the city government junked the mandatory COVID-19 testing and quarantine for fully-vaccinated individuals.
Under Executive Order No. 15-2022, inbound travelers will only be tested and quarantined if they exhibit symptoms of the viral disease.IMT
