The Iloilo City Government will not suspend the implementation of the Local Public Route Transport Plan (LPTRP) amid the struggle of commuters.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said the suspension of the Department of Transportation-approved traffic plan would not resolve the problems.

Actions, according to the mayor, have already been undertaken to ease the burden of commuters, especially those from neighboring towns.

Under the LPTRP, provincial jeepneys are prohibited from operating within the city. They are only allowed up to the designated terminals.

The traffic plan also introduced 17 rationalized routes and seven new routes in the city.

Treñas said his office is open to accept proposals as well as petitions against the implementation of the LPTRP, which took effect on June 12.IMT
