Iloilo City is “ready” for a possible surge in cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after the May 9 elections, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
“We are ready. Hopefully it will not happen,” said Treñas in a press conference.
According to the mayor, the city’s quarantine facilities and modular field hospitals have sufficient rooms for COVID-19 patients.
He also noted the availability of anti-COVID drug Molnupiravir.
Meanwhile, Treñas urged especially those who are still unvaccinated against COVID-19 to get immunized.
All district health centers in the city are now offering vaccination.
The city government also started the rollout of the second COVID-19 booster shot for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.
Available vaccine brands are Moderna, Sinovac, Pfizer, and Janssen.
“Together with members of the media, we really have to continue campaigning for booster shots. Kay daw may iban pa nga daw nakulbaan gid,” said Treñas.
The city currently under under Alert Level 1, the least restrictive in the government’s five-tiered alert level system.IMT
