Transport cooperatives in the province and city of Iloilo are seeking for an increase in the minimum fare for jeepneys amid the successive oil price hikes.

Boyet Parcon, Western Visayas Tansport Cooperative (WVTC) chairman, said they are set to meet this week to discuss the impact of the skyrocketing costs of petroleum products.

Local oil companies are set to implement another round of pump price hikes this week, marking a sixth consecutive week of price increases for fuel.

According to Parcon, they will file a fare hike petition before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) if fuel prices continue to go up.

Currently, the minimum fare for modern public utility jeepneys (MPUJ) is P14 while for traditional public utility jeepneys (TPUJ) is P12.IMT
