Some local government units (LGUs) in Iloilo announced the suspension of classes for Thursday, May 4, due to inclement weather.

The Iloilo City Government suspended classes from pre-school to senior high school because of the expected “light to moderate with at times heavy rains.”

“OIC-Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon will sign the executive order tomorrow (May 4). I am leaving on the 10:50 p.m. flight today (May 3) for Guam for an official business,” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said in a statement.

He left to the discretion of universities and colleges in city to suspend their classes.

In Iloilo province, the towns of Calinog and Bingawan as well as Passi City also decided to call off classes in their respective areas.

The class suspension covers all levels in public and private schools.

Parts of Iloilo experienced hours of heavy rain on Wednesday, May 3, causing flooding and landslides in some villages.IMT
