A steel bailey bridge was opened to light vehicles on Monday, Nov. 14, in replacement of the damaged Oyungan Bridge in Miagao town, Iloilo.
According to the local government, the temporary one-lane bridge installed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has a 10-ton vehicle limit.
“Kon mag-agi kamo dira, bigayan lang. One at a time. Kon sobra 10 tons, ang mga dalagku nga salakyan, indi na kamo mag-agi dira,” Mayor Richard Garin said in a media interview.
“Diin maagi ang sobra 10 tons? Hulat hulaton nyu nalang ang anouncement sang DPWH. Didto kamo maagi sa downstream sa Barangay Damilisan kag Barangay Oyungan sa dalum sang bridge,” he added.
The installation of the 50-meter bailey bridge was completed almost two weeks after a portion of the Oyungan Bridge was damaged by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.IMT
