Four died while two others were injured after a pick-up truck hit a tricycle in Miagao town, Iloilo on Friday night, Sept. 23.

Among those fatalities were two teachers of Igdulaca Elementary School. They were identified as Arlene Estorpe, 50, and Helen Olaguer, 45.

Estorpe’s husband, Bien, and their 10-year-old child, Arbie, also died in the road mishap.

The four were brought to the Miagao Rural Health Unit but were declared dead on arrival. They suffered fatal head injuries.

Olaguer’s children, 10-year-old Lance and five-year-old Allyza, were hospitalized for injuries they sustained.

The driver of the white pick-up truck was identified as engineer Noel Tactica of San Joaquin town, Iloilo. He is an employee of the Miagao local government.

According Police Lieutenant Lunelyn Talamillo of Miagao Municipal Police Station, Tactica was under the influence of liquor and was driving fast.

Initial investigation showed that the truck was travelling along the road in Barangay Oyungan behind the tricycle ferrying the six victims when the incident happened at around 8 p.m.

Talamillo said the detained driver will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injury, and damage to property.IMT
