Hotshots from Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) returned with a fiercer attitude on the court as they demolished all competing teams in the U-12 category of the 1st Asenso Silay Mayor’s Cup Invitational Basketball League 2019 at the Silay Gym in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
The Thunderbolts bagged the crown after blasting University of St. La Salle in the finals clash. Adrian Alagaban paced the team with a double-digit scoring and was hailed Most Valuable Player.
The Story Callora-mentored team was comprised of Dave Recodo, Joaquin Chuatico, Jorald Gambol, Frederick Uy, Joven Gonzales, William Malacad, Francis Lamasan, Marcus Severino, John Bejemino, Carlos Cacantana, Ronnie Medina, Asya Wang, James Li, Shenlee Arriesgad, and Jann Barcellano, son of former Far Eastern University Tamaraws big man Francis Barcellano.
Meanwhile, eight teams are now seeing action in the 2019 JB Amateur Basketball League Elite Division which started its first season last Oct. 6.
All games will be at the Powerhouse gym in Gaisano LaPaz wherein competing teams are The Uniwheels Cars Display, Malditos/Liege Motor parts, ODM Sportswear, Hiyang Filinvest, JKG/CTG Commercial, Asialink/E&C Trucking, Queen’s Pension House, and the OJNA/IYB Mobile Bar Crocodiles.
In the last week’s game, the youngsters from the Asialink/E&C Trucking team defeated ODM Sportswear, 94-61, with Jemar Cefriano winning the best player of the game with 21 big points, three boards, and two assists.
In other games, Uniwheels Cars Display gave JKG/CTG Commercial a hurting loss 68-46, behind the valiant effort from the Doliguez brothers and King Belostrino, the best player of the game, who chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Malditos Motor parts team eked-out Hiyang Filinvest in overtime, 71-66, with John Davis Paquingan grabbing best player honors, with 19 points, three rebounds, and six assists. IMT
