Student-athletes from Bacolod Tay Tung High School will represent the region in the ASEAN School Games qualifying tournaments this week.
The Thunderbolts are set to banner Region 6 in volleyball, basketball and athletics in separate playing venues.
The girls volleyball team will compete in the National Invitational Sports Competition to be held from May 25 to 27 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Mentored by Roberto Calamba Jr., the squad will be reinforced by many-time Best Setter and Best Libero awardee Katherine Shaine Cortez and Gwen Toledo Bañas, respectively.
Ilongga Ana Hermosura, Dona Mae de Leon, Jothea Ramos, Jihan Chuatico, Alex Montoro, Ysabelle Chua, Amber Lily Biong, Antheia Galicia, Patricia Grace Hiponia and Alijah Ysulan will also join the group.
For Calamba, he said they are honored to represent Western Visayas in this qualifiers as it will provide them more experiences and opportunities.
Aside from volleyball, Bacolod Tay Tung basketball team is also hoping to secure a seat in the ASEAN School Games this November in Dumaguete City as they compete in a separate qualifiers in Marikina City. The Yong Despi-mentored team started their campaign last Monday, May 23, with a 75-69 upset over Ateneo de Manila University before losing Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 85-75
The Tay Tung’s athletics team, led by Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon, Shaltea Delotavo and Jade Cordova, are set to compete in their ASG qualifiers later this month in Iloilo City.
