The suspension of the implementation of the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) in Iloilo City has been prolonged.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said the suspension will be extended for another 45 days to give the city government more time to tackle and finalize amendments.

The suspension, which took effect last July 8, is set to end on August 22 as per Executive Order No. 1-2022 issued by the mayor.

Treñas said the city government will continue to conduct consultations with stakeholders.

The City Council will also hold a transportation summit where the final amendments and recommendations on the transport plan will be presented to the public.

Councilor Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna said the city’s revised LPTRP will be submitted to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after the summit on Aug. 30 for approval.

LPTRP involves 24 routes for its public jeepneys, seven of which are new and 17 are rationalized.

It also bans provincial jeepneys from operating within the city.IMT
