The Department of Health (DOH-6) recorded eight suspected cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the city and province of Iloilo.

The number of persons under investigation (PUIs) for the new deadly virus in Iloilo province had reached five and three in Iloilo City as Feb. 7.

Of the three PUIs in the city, two tested negative for nCoV while one is still under hospital confinement pending the result of his confirmatory test.

In the province, two PUIs yielded negative results while three are still awaiting their confirmatory test results.

The health department said PUIs are “those who have fever or respiratory infection and travel history to China within the last fourteen days or history of exposure to confirmed 2019 nCoV cases.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas asked three airline companies to voluntarily cease all their flights between Iloilo and countries affected by nCoV.

He sent letters to Kirk Warren Patricio of Cebu Pacific, Ricky Dela Cruz of Philippine Airlines (PAL) Inc, and Carlo Tabaosares of AirAsia Inc.

On Feb. 4, Cebu Pacific suspended its flights from Iloilo to Hong Kong and vice versa. The suspension will last until March 29, 2020.IMT
