Suspected cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been reported in three more towns in the province of Iloilo.
These towns are adjacent to Oton and San Miguel, which are considered as “Red or Infected Zones.”
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Darel Tabuada did not name the towns pending the results of tests conducted on pigs.
Blood samples were taken on October 29, November 2, and 3 following reports on the “unexplained mortality” of more than 10 pigs in the towns.
They were submitted to the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture (DA-6).
So far, 772 hogs from Oton and San Miguel have been depopulated to prevent the further spread of ASF in the province.
Of the 404 blood samples collected from the two towns, 179 tested positive for the highly contagious hemorrhagic viral disease.IMT
