Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday, April 6, confirmed the presence of local transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iloilo City.
“Gusto ko lang ipabalo sa tanan nga may ara na kita local transmission diri sa syudad,” Treñas said in a press conference.
The city’s latest COVID-19 patient, a 59-year-old male, had a close contact with the deceased patient, a 72-year-old male. They are both from Mandurriao district.
According to the Department of health, the latest patient, who is currently confined at a hospital, is diabetic and hypertensive.
Local transmission is defined as “the transfer of the virus that causes the disease in a local geographical setting.”
The city now has four confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death and one recovery.
Meanwhile, Treñas reiterated his appeal to the public to “stay at home.”
“Palihog kon makatinir man lang kamo sa inyo mga balay, tinir nalang kamo anay. Likawan ta guid anay ang sagad guwa guwa,” he said.
“May order na kita sa aton barangay officials nga sila nalang ang makadto sa inyo mga balay,” Treñas added.IMT
