A state-of-the-art command center will be constructed in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.

City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas inked yesterday, Sept. 2, a usufruct agreement with Carlos Legara of Heva Development and Management Corporation.

The agreement allows the city government to build the five-storey Iloilo City Action and Response (I CARE) Center on the 375-square meter site at the Iloilo City Center owned by Gaisano Capital Group.

The construction of the building, which will house the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), and Police, and Fire stations, is set to start this year.

“This is a very significant project as we should be prepared for disaster and immediate response to emergencies and urgent situations. It will also include Intelligent Transport System (ITS) to address traffic congestion in the metropolis,” Treñas said.

The mayor thanked mall tycoon Eddie Gaisano for helping the city government.

Treñas said Gaisano also committed to donate an ambulance to be on standby at the command center to respond to emergencies and urgent situations.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Vice Mayor Jeffrey P. Ganzon and Councilor Alan A. Zaldivar.IMT
