Gathering hundreds of young and vibrant participants, the Iloilo City Sports Academy (ICSA) successfully started in Iloilo City, Jan. 13.
The premiere Sports Program of the Iloilo City government received positive response as it doubled the expected number of enrollees.
Executive Assistant for Sports, Mr. Rudiver Jungco Sr., expressed his gratitude with the support showed by the Ilonggo athletes and their parents as well.
To recall, the city formed the ICSA to level up the Ilonggo athletes. Recently, it received positive feedback from the planning stage up to now where hundreds of enrollees already registered and are ready to level up their skills towards sports.
The program will last a year and there will be an assessment every month to monitor the student’s progress in their respective sports.
Jungco also said that the priority would be the less-fortunate and the indigent Ilonggos to somehow help them through sports and let that be their stepping stone.
The Academy features 18 sports and the ICSDD together with the Iloilo City Government will hire professional coaches for the kids’ proper training and development.
The Academy is open to all Ilonggos, but there will be a ratio between the indigent and the fortunate, for every 8 indigent participants, there will be two well-equipped students that will join them.IMT
