Santa Barbara has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases among Iloilo province’s 42 towns and one component city as of Tuesday, April 6.

According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Santa Barbara topped the list with 66 active cases, followed by Igbaras with 35; Sara, 29; San Enrique 28; Calinog, 27; Pavia, 26; San Joaquin, 25; and Barotac Nuevo, 21.

Guimbal landed on the ninth spot with 17 active cases, followed by Cabatuan with 15; Janiuay, Pototan and San Rafael, 12 each; Miagao and Dumangas, 11 each; Passi City, Leganes, and Dingle, 10 each; Oton, 9; Banate, New Lucena, Ajuy, Balasan and Badiangan, 7 each; Tigbauan, Leon and San Dionisio, 6 each; and Duenas and Batad, 5 each.

Meanwhile, the towns of San Miguel and Bingawan have zero active COVID-19 cases.

All the 34 confirmed cases in Bingawan have recovered while in San Miguel, six of its 60 infected patients have died and the rest have recovered.

Other towns in the province with the lowest number of active cases are Concepcion, Estancia and Anilao with 4 each; Lambunao, Zarraga, and Carles, 3 each; Barotac Viejo, Alimodian, and Tubungan, 2 each; and Mina, and Lemery, 1 each.

All in all, the province has 484 active COVID-19 cases or patients who are still infected with SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes the viral disease.

New COVID-19 cases

The PHO logged 30 additional COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, jacking up the province’s total case count to 5,531.

San Joaquin accounted for the most number of the new cases at 9; followed by New Lucena and Pavia with 4 each, and San Enrique and Sara with 2 each.

Oton, Cabatuan, Santa Barbara, Tigbauan, San Dionisio, Dumangas , Barotac Viejo, and Guimbal registered one new case each.IMT
