The town of San Enrique in the province of Iloilo is celebrating its 65th Founding Anniversary and 5th Kalamay Festival (Sugar Festival) this week.
The week-long celebration is set to kick off today, July 12, with a thanksgiving mass and a commemorative program.
The program will be followed by the opening of their garden show and exhibit dubbed as Bugana and Bahandi, respectively.
There will be Kulinarya, a cooking contest using sugar as a primary ingredient and Kalamay TikTok Challenge.
Other activities are Kalamay Mural Painting Contest, 3rd Kalamay Motor Show, and Night Market.
San Enrique, which belongs to the province’s Fourth District, became independent from Passi City on July 12, 1957.
It is known for cane farming and sugar production.IMT
