Pumpboat trips between Guimaras and Iloilo City were temporarily suspended after passengers violated social distancing rules.

The suspension was ordered by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday, May 18, to prevent the spread of the deadly disease caused by the new coronavirus.

Guimaras-bound passengers at the Parola Ferry Terminal in Iloilo City were found to have defied social distancing and the face mask rule.

Treñas said he would allow the resumption of pumpboat trips once safety protocols in the terminal are finalized.

Residents of Guimaras, under the latest executive order issued by Governor Samuel Gumarin, “shall be allowed to travel outside the province but limited only to maximum of two essential travels per week.”

“Trips of pumpboats and other sea vessels will be from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” the EO stated.
Both Iloilo City and Guimaras are under the general community quarantine(GCQ).IMT
