There are more than 300,000 single individuals in the city and province of Iloilo as of 2015, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
In its February 2020 report, the PSA recorded 289,671 singles or unmarried individuals in the province and 78,641 in the city.
According to the 2015 census, Iloilo province and Iloilo City have a combined population of 2,361,042.
The census of population is conducted by the PSA every ten years. It collects data on the marital status of persons 10 years old and over.
In the whole Western Visayas, the total number of single individuals is at 1,086,829.
Negros Occidental accounted for the highest number of singles in the region with 324,291, followed by Iloilo province; Capiz, 108,902; Bacolod City, 93,041; Aklan, 83,562; Antique, 81,769; Iloilo City; and Guimaras, 26,943.
Marlene Alviar, PSA’s Statistical Operations and Coordination chief, said of the total single population, 654,813 are males and 432,007 are females.
