The Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) has started undertaking preparations for the staging of the 52nd edition of the Dinagyang Festival.
IFFI is the new organizer of Dinagyang, one of the most anticipated festivals in the country every year.
On Friday, July 19, IFFI will held its Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting to discuss, among others, suggestions and recommentations for the improvement of the festival.
Dinagyang’s grand highlight is held every fourth Sunday of January.
The creation of the new foundation to handle Dinagyang was initiated by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
“I believe it is about time to create a new team that is more dynamic and creative to handle Dinagyang Festival events,” he said.
The mayor lamented that in the past years, the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) “has become complacent at the expense of the quality of our festival.”
“I could not afford to let it continue to happen under my administration. The Ilonggos deserve better,” Treñas said.
Aside from Dinagyang, IFFI will also spearhead other festivals in the city.
IFFI’s chairman and vice chairman are Rito Carlos Peña and Felipe Uygongco, respectively.
Lawyer Jobert Peñaflorida serves as president; Ronald Raymond Sebastian, vice president; Angel de Leon, Jr., corporate secretary, Roland Uy, treasurer; and Ivy Gurrea, assistant treasurer.
Its board of directors include Philipp Chua, Honorato Espinosa, Rogelio Florete, Sr., Molly Grande, Jose Marie Layson, John Alexander Que, Allan Ryan Tan, and Luis Tinsay.IMT
