A top executive of power distributor Panay Electric Company (PECO) has resigned Engineer Randy Pastolero, assistant vice president for operations, confirmed his resignation on July 24.
His last day in office was on July 25.
Pastolero, who served PECO for more than two decades, said he decided to step down to focus on his businesses.
Meanwhile, Marcelo Cacho, PECO administrative manager, assured that their operations will not be affected by Pastolero’s resignation.
He disclosed that Pastolero submitted his resignation last year but the management convinced him to stay on until the “proper turnover of duties” is done.
Cacho said they assigned engineers Nilo Madrid and Aldren Deleste to carry out responsibities left by Pastolero.
PECO is currently locked in a legal battle with More Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), Iloilo City’s new power distributor.
MORE Power’s 25-year power distribution franchise was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte in last February.
Republic Act No. 11212 signed by Duterte obliged PECO, whose franchise expired last Jan., to turn over its distribution assets to MORE
Power.
Early this month, The Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 209 declared Sections 10 and 17 of Republic Act No. 11212 “void and unconstitutional infringing on PECO’s rights to due process and equal protection of the law.”
On the other hand, the expropriation case filed by MORE Power is still being heard by the Iloilo RTC.IMT
