Mayor Jerry Treñas has issued an executive order (EO) “prohibiting parties/gathering for leisure purposes in private rooms of accommodation establishments” in Iloilo City.
EO No. 003 applies to all hotels, motels, pension houses, inns, and all kinds of accommodation establishments offering overnight stay service.
Section 2 of the EO reiterated the Health and Safety Guidelines issued by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
According to the guidelines, only single up to double room occupancy is allowed.
“Couples or family members who share the same household may be allowed in double or twin occupancy rooms. A distance of 1 to meters between the beds is highly encouraged.”
Treñas issued the EO following the death of a flight attendant who was found lifeless after a New Year’s Eve party in a Makati hotel.
“To prevent the same occurrence from happening and curb the transmission of COVID-19 that may take place in these covert venues, it is essential that certain protocols be set in place on activities conducted in accommodation establishments,” the EO stated.
Those who “knowingly break any of the provisions [of the EO] as well as established health and safety protocols issued by the Department of Health (DOH), Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), and other agencies, and in the processes endanger the lives of the residents of Iloilo City will face appropriate administrative and/or criminal charges.”
“Further, the penalty of revocation of business permit may be imposed pursuant to R.A. 7160.”IMT
