Mayor Stephen A. Palmares is pushing for the construction of an airport in Passi City.
“Amo daa ang ginatinguhaan namon ni Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares nga matigayon ang airport diri sa Passi,” the mayor said yesterday, Nov. 17.
According to Palmares, the proposed airport was already approved by the Provincial Development Council headed by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr.
“Nagapasalamat kita ka Gov. Defensor sa iya pagsuporta sa aton plano,” he said.
The propasal is now up for deliberation by the Regional Development Council.
Palmares said Passi, which lies in the central part of Panay, is a “strategic location” for the proposed project.
“Kon lantawon mo ang mapa, ang Passi nabutang gid sa tunga-tunga ka Panay. Amo daa man ang rason nga ginhimo kita regional hub sang Red Cross,” he said.
Palmares believes that the airport, once completed, will open positive opportunities for economic growth.
“Hanggud gid nga bulig ka daya indi lang sa Passi kundi sa bilog nga Panay. Mangin matawhay na ang pagbiyahe sang mga tawo kag pagdala sang goods sa Panay,” he said.
Passi is the province’s sole component city. It has vast plantations of pineapple, rice and sugarcane.IMT
