The provincial chairperson of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party admitted that Iloilo remained the bailiwick of the “yellow party.”
“Ang Iloilo is considered sa national campaign nga yellow area,” said Passi City Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares in an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo.
Yellow is the political color of the once-ruling Liberal Party (LP), which is currently being chaired by presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo.
“We are not expecting too much [votes] para sa BBM-Sara tandem,” said Palmares.
Lakas-CMD officially adopted former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (BBM) as its presidential candidate and confirmed incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its vice presidential candidate for the 2022 elections.
The political party was founded by former president Fidel V. Ramos, an ex-national police chief who led the 1986 People Power Revolution ousted the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos from power.
Last October, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas and Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. publicly declared their support for the presidential bid of Robredo.IMT/Photo by Ian Paul Cordero
