Sports enthusiasts in Capiz will have more time to enjoy various sporting activities in the province after the approval of the Capiz Cultural and Sports Center.
The fund, which is P60 million in total, was approved by Senator Francis Tolentino. The fund was requested by Governor Esteban Evan Contreras.
In a letter to Contreras, Tolentino said the amount could help the cultural and sports development program of the province of Capiz.
“I believe that it is the right time to start the construction of the said projects despite of the pandemic. This will also give job opportunities and invite tourists to visit our small province,” Contreras said.
The sports and cultural center will be put up inside the Villareal Stadium, where all of the sporting events are happening. The stadium also served as venue of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association and other Regional meets.
Last year, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Board Members were looking for the funding of the Capiz Cultural and Sports Center and the Capiz Convention and Evacuation Center. And now that there’s an allocated budget, they can now start developing the facilities.
Aside from the P60-million fund, the national government has also allocated P100-million for the completion of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Brgy. Lanot here and P250-million for the construction of 5,000-seat Multipurpose Evacuation and Convention Center in Pueblo de Panay.IMT
