The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on Tuesday, Dec. 3, approved Iloilo City’s P2.7-billion budget for next year.
Councilor Jay Treñas, chairperson of the appropriations committee, said it was unanimously approved by members of the SP.
The 2020 budget is more or less P400 million higher compared to this year’s.
According to Treñas, 57.21 percent or P1,546,449,500 of the approved budget will come from local taxes while the remaining from the city’s Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).
The councilor said part of the additional fund is intended for salary hike of City Hall employees.
“We’ve adjusted sang sweldo sang aton mga empleyado kag may saka man nga 10 percent across the board per department para ka-function sila properly,” he explained.
Treñas said all City Hall departments have allotted funds.
The councilor disclosed that the office of Mayor Jerry Treñas, his uncle, will get P73.7 million for Personnel Services and P590,400, 957 for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses.IMT
