Two remote barangays in the town of Miagao, Iloilo have benefitted from the water supply project of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
The water system project, which costs P1.425 million, was installed in Barangays Tigbagacay and Tig apog-apog through the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO).
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. personally joined the installment of the project which will respond to the demand and need of the people for a steady supply of water for their everyday access.
The project also includes the 3-kilometer transmission line from the source to the two water tanks, and the 360-meter distribution line from the water tanks to the household consumers.
In a Facebook post by Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo, Defensor expressed his appreciation for the effort of the Barangay Officials and stakeholders for the realization of the water system project.
“Nagapasalamat gid ako kay ang proyekto aton gina pulihan, kun nagadugang ang ribbon cutting sa barangay, naga kahulugan nga sige ang progreso para sa tawo” he said.
Meanwhile, PEO’s Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project head engineer Rene A. Margarico encouraged the local functionaries and the Barangay Water System and Sanitation Association (TIGWASA) to safeguard their project with the establishment of sound policies on operation and maintenance.
For Miagao Councilor Japhet Grace Moleta, the project showcased the “bayanihan” spirit because there are residents who donated portions of their land for the projects to be realized.
It is also good, she said, that there are active citizens who organized themselves through TIGWASA, an association that will help ensure the sustainability of the project.
“Indeed, things happen when the public and private sectors collaborate in delivering services to the communities. Congratulations to Punong Barangay Jepte Nualan and Punong Barangay Rodrigo Familangco Jr. and the people of Barangay Tigbagacay and Barangay Tigapog-apog,” Moleta added.IMT
