An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) lost more than P4 million worth of cash and jewelry after burglars entered their house at a subdivision in Pavia town, Iloilo on Monday afternoon, Jan. 20.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Geoffrey Obaob of the Pavia Municipal Police Station said the thieves were able to enter the house owned by Yenie Bakial, 41, through a glass window.

The unidentified men took cash amounting to P4 million and P100 thousand worth of assorted jewelry.

The cash and jewelry were stored inside an attache case placed under a double-deck bed.

Bakial, who is engaged in lending activities, left their house at Block 13, Lot 2, Phase III, Deca Homes unattended around 1 p.m.

When she returned around 6 p.m. with her sibling, they noticed that the things inside the two rooms of the house were already in disarray.

They then found out that the door knobs of the rooms were destroyed.

Based on the police’s initial report, the burglary appeared to be well-planned.

Investigation is still ongoing to determine the identities of the suspects.

Bakial returned home from Qatar almost a year ago.IMT
